A typical saturday afternoon outing with my sister, and like always we head towards a restaurant with a growing appetite to try out something new. This time we headed to one of our favourite hangouts in the city, The Souk at Qariyat Al Beri. This place not only boasts of one of the best views of the sea but also of some of the finest restaurants and clubs. Theres so much to say about this place that I would probably need another post to blog just on how wonderful this location is!
Anyways coming back to lunch, I decided to try out a new dish at The Noodle House, rather than my usual favourites. What I settled with this time(and my first) was Nasi Goreng also known commonly as the Indonesian Fried Rice with shrimps and chicken. The rice was mildly spiced and the sunny side up egg added to the flavour perfectly. The prawn crackers also known as “krupuk” in Indonesia were certainly a surprise element. The rice contained a fair share of prawns sliced in bite size bits and accompanied by a skewer of Chicken Satay.
Indonesian delights all on one plate. Perfect.
I also happened to be looking up for some facts regarding Nasi Goreng, which is also the national dish of Indonesia and was amazed that this was chosen in 2011 during an online poll as the No. 2 of the “World’s 50 Most Delicious Foods” 😀
