Novotel Platinum Pratunam – Bangkok

Novotel Platinium - Bangkok

Novotel Platinium – Bangkok

Its Day 1 and shortly after that awesome breakfast at the S&P airport café we headed towards our hotel.

One of the best things about Bangkok or probably I feel so coz it happened to be my first trip is that I noticed many of the hotels are connected to shopping malls. And for a shopaholic like me, that’s like a week’s stay in heaven. This time chosen by my dad ( and I am so grateful for it) is the Novotel Platinum Pratunam Bangkok.
Beware as there are two Novotels in Bangkok and with this confusion, my cousin brother ended up booking his stay at the other one when he was due to stay with us.

Everything about this hotel is great. I struggled to find a flaw that would make me consider not choosing this for my next trip literally. Located centrally with 4 malls around it and the hotel itself being built on one, The Platinum Mall I couldn’t be asking for more. And if you also happen to be a foodie, you will be surprised with the food options you have down the street. From local eateries to international franchises, its all here. Care for some cheap street side shopping? just across the street is the local Pratunam market which is apparently Thailand’s largest clothing market.

Since we had an early morning arrival into Bangkok, we headed to the hotel much before the scheduled check in time at noon.In about 30 minutes despite the traffic, we reached our destination by a local taxi from the airport. Dad being my tour guide for the trip gave me a short brief on the city while on the road. As we approached our hotel, dad threw the biggest surprise on me after pointing out that the building ahead was our hotel. Novotel begins from the 7th floor onwards, while floors 1-6 belong to the Platinum Mall, Thailand’s largest wholesale market. And if that is not enough, how about having a Starbucks outlet on the ground floor.

OMG!

I kept gasping at everything I saw around the hotel, specially when the first thing you smell when you get of the cab is freshly brewed coffee from Starbucks!

After our luggage was collected we headed to the 7th floor which is the reception. Our room wasn’t ready and serviced but we had no complaints.Being booked for a Club room, we were immediately greeted and escorted towards the club on the 24th floor where we had to wait for the next 2 hours till we could check in.

All club room bookings come with Club lounge access offering its guests snacks and drinks like tea and coffee throughout the day. Every evening bite sized sandwiches and various other finger foods with delectable desserts are served like an open buffet along with free flow of alcoholic drinks. For business purposes, the Club Lounge also comes with Wifi and a whole mini conference room that can be used as well. To top it all, the Club Lounge also offers stunning view of the city specially at sunset.

Since we reached post breakfast, we waited at the Lounge for our room to be serviced. While there I couldn’t get my eyes off the view of the city and of course the malls that surrounded. Snacks were not available at the time, but the hostess did give us a serving of fruit and freshly made juice.

I would recommend this hotel to almost anyone planning to visit Bangkok for any particular reason. Families, or singles the hotel is just a hop skip and jump away from shopping, entertainment and all modes of transport. The surroundings are clean and you will never run out of options for food. Novotel already has a great reputation on its own, but for me nothing beats this one.

  1. Hello and Thank you for liking a pic .Your pictures are really nice. I love the look of the place. The elephant is interesting:) Have a nice day..

  2. This lounge has a fresh modern appeal with a minimalistic approach. The purple flowers capture the essence of a perfect tropical island get-a-way. Such a transformative design has to be taken in slowly to truly be appreciated. A splash of orange amongst the white vases in the background would have given the room a more harmonious color balance but I still like it.
